Stay Connected

We’re excited to share updates on new partnerships and specially designed military-targeted classes. Check back frequently to see what’s new at Salas Wellness! Our current involvement includes local and hybrid (online & in person) classes:

1.) Veteran’s Voices Discussion Program: At each program, participants come together in small groups to read aloud from classic and contemporary literary texts about war, military service, and the return to civilian life. After the readings, participants engage in facilitated conversations that explore how the texts relate to their own experience and allow for shared reflection on combat and civic responsibility. Please contact us if you would like to know if there is a program here locally in El Paso, Texas or located elsewhere in the United States. UTPB’s new humanities program aims to help veterans heal.

2.) Veteran Spouse’s Network: The Veteran Spouse Network (VSN) is a supportive community designed for military and veteran spouses and partners. It offers peer support and connects individuals to valuable resources and a network of encouragement. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by veteran families, VSN emphasizes the importance of input, voice, and perspectives from spouses and partners, making it a space tailored to their needs. 3.) Military Veteran Peer Network: The Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) consists of TVC-Certified Peer Service Coordinators and volunteers located within local mental health authorities across Texas, forming a statewide peer-to-peer network for service members, veterans, and their families. MVPN focuses on supporting military personnel affected by trauma through training, technical assistance, and certification for Peer Service Coordinators (PSCs) and their peers. Services offered by MVPN include direct peer support, training in suicide prevention and military cultural competency, coordination of mental health first aid, and referrals to local resources tailored to the specific needs of veterans and their families. MVPNs are located around the state of Texas. Take a look to see if there is one near you. Military Veteran Peer Network

The Military: Making memories, stashing them away, moving them somewhere else, and reopening them all to enjoy over and over again…it’s like an unplanned surprise invitation to a sometimes unplanned surprise party that only your family attends.” ~Cassandra Salas (Salas Wellness LLC), Army Wife
